Tolumnia "Red Barry" in S/H
Here's a Tolumnia that I got from my mother. She was getting rid of some of her collection to focus on Phals, while I like to have a few of everything. It was potted in moss, then bark, and neither were making it happy. I put it in semi-hydro as a simple test. At first, it seemed to suffer, but now it's happier than ever! Two spikes, one flush with eleven flowers.
It sits on a Western windowsill where it gets lots of light, but never direct sunlight.

That is really awesome! I am so glad to see your baby is doing great in s/h! Everything I ever read about Tolumnia and s/h is that it does not work!
So, way to go! Great job!

That should probably be Tolumnia Red Barry. Definitely looks like that. There is no registered hybrid called Red Berry.
I wouldn't have guessed a Tolu would do well in s/h, but I guess it makes sense it might adapt well once it grew new roots under those conditions. Clearly it is happy and healthy. Good growing.

The tag said Red Barry, but I thought to myself, that had to be a typo! Thanks for straightening that out.
Thanks! It's been in S/H for almost a year now. At first it didn't like it, but I kept seeing new root growth.

I have 3 of these little cuties. Yours looks great good amount of growth its big. I keep 2 of mine mounted with sphagnum moss around it. One is planted in clay with large back. It is doing great in that this is one orchid I have that loves to dry out quick.
