Talking Noid Miltoniopsis in spike!!!

Almost died of shock!!! First off, I'm still amazed that I haven't killed it (yet). My husband bought it for me in bloom last spring, it was planted in promix and I left it alone for a good 6 months until the new growths started coming in all crinkled. Suspecting root rot I pulled it out of the pot only to discover lots of healthy roots, but by then I'd removed all the promix and didn't see any practical way to put it back the way it was. I can't remember now what medium I switched it over to but the end result was death to all those lovely roots After no improvement I switched it over to a mix of orchiata, charcoal, perlite, and sphag about 3 months ago. I put it outside with most of my others once it warmed up enough and other than watering it when it started to feel dry, I haven't paid any attention to it. Tonight when I was admiring the tiny baby fan starting on my noid paph, I happened to glance over and got the shock of my life...not one, but TWO spikes!!!! Couldn't be a prouder momma Wish me luck getting actual blooms!

Fantastic! Good growing, I can just imagine how wonderful you feel. I look forward to seeing the blooms. May I ask what kind of lighting you're providing it? My Miltoniopsis doesn't seem to like me as much as yours.

Thank you
I've been giving it the same light as my 2 phals and paph. It's on an East facing porch that gets direct morning sun until about 10 am or so,when the sun moves and then it's shady for the rest of the day. I don't have a light meter but it seems to be max light for my phals as they have a reddish stripe around the bottom of the leaves.
Perhaps you've been too kind to it? Not sure about all Miltoniopsis but mine appears to have a masochistic streak
Hope that helps

Good save.
Yes, these miltoniopsis hybrids are a lot tougher than falsely rumored to be.
