Pseudobulb roots and sustaining other pseudobulbs.

This may be a stupid question, but are pbulbs able to provide nutrients to an adjacent pbulb with no roots?

Sympodial plants are connected to each other via a network of rhizomes, so act as a unified colony, sharing resources. However, it seems logical to me that, having been damaged in some way, the rootless growths are more likely to be used as a resource for the viable growths, and will eventually be "tapped out".

Also, there are some nutrients that are not very well translocated, such as calcium and boron, so those would not be shared, no matter in which direction.
