How long for flowers to open?
How long does it usually take for the flowers to completely open? This is what it looked like when I bought it on 3/10/15.
And this is it now.
I'm dying to see the flowers totally open. :-)

They shouldn't take more than a day or 2 at that stage.

The bottom one has been like that since two days after I got it. :-/ Since then each day one has opened to the point that they are in the pics. It's like the petals with the ruffled edges are the ones not opening yet on all the flowers.

Have you tried just gently prying the two petals apart on one bloom? I have had various Oncidiums and I don't think mine stay like that more than a day. Once they decide to open, all parts of them open pretty much at the same time. Maybe it is too dry in your home or they have some honeydew making them stick? Now and then I have petals stick and almost just touching them is all it takes to get them to unstick and within an hour they can be open.

I haven't tried that, I will though. It's just so weird to me that all of them did that. My house could be dry, I have forced hot air. My plants aren't near a vent but I'm sure it's still a bit dry in general. I'll try prying the petals a little and see if that helps. Thanks!

Keep us posted. Is the plant receiving enough water? I find my Oncidiums prefer more water than Catts do. I don't let them completely dry out. But they shouldn't be really wet all the time either.

How long for flowers to open?
I haven't let it dry out. I check it everyday. If the top of the media feels pretty dry I spray it with water from a spray bottle in between waterings. I was able to pry a couple of the lower flowers open pretty easily. I think the scalloped edge of the petals were interlocked with each other or something. The ones closer to the top weren't ready to open as easily so I'll wait on those.

That happens sometimes with the scalloped edges. but it may be because of dry air in the house. They will likely be spread out nicely by tomorrow

This is it now. Some of the flowers up top haven't opened yet. The ones that are open are so pretty!
