beallara deformity ?...

I am wondering what would have caused this deformity , the leaves seem to be bulged in the newest growth bulb and not sure what i can do to help it ? , This is a howards dream and was a great looking hybrid , the rest of the plant including roots are healthy ...

Are you sure it's not a bloom spike stuck in the leaves ?

I had something like this happen after i repotted my oncidium catatante. I think it was because i injured most if it's roots (it was my first non phal repot. The poor thing had to go through soooo much) and the whole plant got super dehydrated. The new leaves ended up all accordian-like and bunched up at the top of the pbulb, even as the shoot was developing. The leaves did end up opening up to show the pbulbs but they were smaller than the older ones and had a couple of deep folds in them, probably because the leaves were so bunched up they couldn't split open as well and the bulbs grew in all deformed... Don't know if that's what's happening with yours...
Those pbulbs never grew a spike but both put out new growths that are maturing nicely (with tonnes of new roots)...

I agree with Atzau and gngrhill. Had a similar experience and just teased away at the leaves gently to make room for spike-felt I had underwatered the plant tho so I blame that for this "buckeling".

When new growth comes in crimped / pleated (and this is severely crimped) it's a sign of too little, or too much water.

I had repotted this one a few months back in spag , it was in same media prior to the change , there may have been a week that i missed one watering , but the p bulb looked to be developing nicely , just as the leaves formed this happened . i tweazed around the bulge and now i will wait and see approach .
