I just got what looks like a beallara marfitch howard's dream. I want to know from others that keep it how they grow this plant? I need to repot it when it is down blooming.
From what I have read this is not a picky plant because it is such a mutt it can handle a wide range of light and temp. Is that true?
The shape is different than the all the common awarded clone, which basically looks like a large star fish. Yours look "stocky". I like yours better.
Beallara group basically takes the same care as oncidium hybrids. I read that they are bred to withstand less light, but I would still give plenty of light for abundant flowering.
You're right. This is an easy grower/bloomer.
Congrats!!!
Thanks. Only time will tell if I can get this to re bloom. I don't see it being a hard plant to grow. It might be my second fav orchid now. But it is so hard to pick favorites.
I love them because they have thick roots, in comparison to some, and that means less watering and less fuss. Beallaras are one of the better, no fuss oncidium hybrids. Sadly, I killed my Tahoma Glacier when I forgot to bring it inside during a hard freeze. I love Howards Dream too!
