That thing is going to grab you one day when you walk by! So glad to see you're doing so well with your plants up here in this 'non orchid' territory!

Default Don't encourage me!

See what happens when you encourage me? I send along newer pictures of this awesome out-of-control puppy of mine. So many new blooms have opened, but so many yet to go! It certainly is helping me to get through these miserable days of snow, snow, and more snow. Not to mention the cold, cold, and more cold. It was minus 16 degrees fahrenheit yesterday morning. Today we were up to a wonderfully warmer 30 degrees above zero. Back to the subject at hand, this orchid is a joy to share room with!

Hi! when you water this plant, do you wait until the medium is slightly moist, but not wet? I have an odontocidium that had rotten roots. There are several new roots about 1/4 of an inch long and I want to make sure they don't rot!

When I water it, it's quite the production. I have to carefully lift the heavy pot and place into a pan of water and make sure it is thoroughly soaked....I actually let it sit in the water for about 20 minutes. Then I let it drain well and and I don't water it again for a good week or more. I mist it daily, though. This plant of mine has to have a well draining medium. I hope I've answered your question okay. I think it has more to do with the medium and good air flow, than anything. That's what I have found with this one, anyway.
