Hi! I recently got two Miltoniopsis:

Milt. Galapagos 'Thatched Lodge' and
Milt. Venus 'Plush'

I have been searching online for some cultural information and growing tips. I've found some from the AOS site...

https://www.aos.org/Default.aspx?id=466

http://www.aos.org/images/img_conten...n/miltonia.pdf

Does anyone have any tips on how they successfully grow Miltoniopsis?

Watering habits?
Type of media?
Light?
Fertilizer?
Etc...

Thanks!

I got one of these months ago it was a rescue. The plant had dropped its blooms and was on discount. The leaves were dark green and it was stressed there was a flower spike that stoped growing.

I have had it for a few months now the leafs Are more of a light green and I have 2 new growths.

It's in a south facing window where it gets lots of light some direct sun and some filtered. It's in a plastic pot because these plants love water.i don't let it dry out I wait for the moss to be damp. I live there it's kind of dry. They can go with out watering but will get wrinkels in the leafs. When I went on vacation my new growth got wrinkles.

I repotted this miltonia in small bark with sphagnum moss. I fertilize 2 times a month and diluted. I use a growth fert now and I have a blooming fert for when it blooms.

I grow mine in small grade oncidium mix from repot me with coco husk. I water mine 2x/ week when it looks drying. In a clear pot, so I can see roots drying, in phal light (well I grow my phals in pretty high light).

Most of them grow cool to intermediate (36 F - 85 F).

Use good quality small grade bark.

Do not dry out completely for more than 1 day between waterings.

Grow under moderately bright indirect light.

The area you grow them in can have moderate humidity, (50% - 70%), and they will be perfectly fine.

Do not overpot. The smaller the pot the better.

Clear or opaque plastic pots are the way to go, preferably clear plastic.

If you're having trouble keeping the orchid hydrated in bark, use long fiber moss that have been trimmed short and mix with perlite and some bark. Do not mix in too much moss. The roots like to breathe.

I have one in s/h in lava rock that is very happy. I got it last year as a seeding and it now has it's first spike beginning. I'm careful not to let it get too hot and they like a drop in temperature in order to bloom.
