First up...my first ever Trichopilia! Trpla Charles 'Orchid Court Too'
I got the division from a fellow OS member a few years ago and it was the start of my Trich obsession. It took a first place in the "other" category at our last meeting...and plant of the month. Very nice fragrance...reminds me of red roses.
Medium light - cool to warm temps -- I keep it very moist all the time. Trpla have a tendency to develop fungal issues on the leaves which can leave them less than beautiful. Also, the new growths can easily rot and even watering from underneath doesn't always stop it. They just seem to be prone to it so getting one from a seedling to a mature plant can sometimes be a bit tricky. I'm growing several species/hybrids and so far I'm finding some of the hybrids to be less fussy than some of the species - hybrid vigor, I suppose. For anyone considering them...Charles is a great beginner Trich!
Trpla Charles x ramonensis - a division I got a little more than a year ago-- first bloom for me and I'm very pleased. Another few years and it'll be a nice specimen.
Again...great fragrance.
