Hey,

I have had a psy kalihi for 1 year now and it has been the most profusive bloomer from all my orchids. However this was bought with 2 spikes.

Last autumn i bought another one with deeper mottling but with no spikes. Is there something i can do to get it spiking?
So far I only got 2 more growths.
I am growing them on my rack with the other Cattleyas (~3000FC)

If it were mine, I'd try some blossom booster ( 10-30-20 ) fertilizer. Just my humble opinion...BettyE.

I would say just give it good culture and when it is ready it will reward you.

Actually, it takes more than good culture. After reading what Ray said, I now lower my high nitrogen level fertilizer 30-10-10 to a 10-30-20 when the orchid growth has matured. This allows the growth to slow down, and the orchid to put it's energy into making flowers. Try it...what can it hurt? BettyE.

Should I try to blast it with more light ?
I could place it next to my eastern window where it would get about 4h of direct sun.

More sun may not hurt, but if you go that route, adjust it slowly so that you don't give it a burn. I use a balanced fert. year round.

More light is sometimes a good thing...but if the leaves begin to turn red, or feel warm, it's a little too much light. BettyE.
