Question NoID, but do you know what it is?

Been wanting one of these but held my hand back from buying any more plants. THEN my sister showed up with this for my birthday. Really beautiful plant, two spikes, a new growth and a pbulb that appears to not have flowered yet (maybe it still wants to...?). Really healthy looking plant.

SO, what is it? I know ID'ing it 100% is not possible but what is this genera? My sister said it didn't have an ID but there's a chance I could get more info from the seller. Is this an Odontoglossum/Oncidium hyrbid, what are they called?

Thanks guys! Real psyched about this plant, beautiful fragrance, happy looking plant, and hey I don't have the guilt of buying another Orchid!

I'm guessing it is a Bratonia (formerly Miltassia but both between Brassia and Miltonia). I believe for the most part you handle them just like other plants in the oncidium alliance. Most likely Bratonia Shelob...the most famous being 'Tolkein' but yours may or may not be that.

Thank you, I was just looking around and figured it's got to be something Miltassia, or as you put it Bratonia.

Thank you. I will keep looking.

I might buy that it's a Bratonia Shelob, but 'Tolkien' is a cultivar by itself, and not part of the grex name.

It's not pink spiders. I purchased this plant at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago in this exact same pot, so I suspect it is the same plant. Mine had a tag. Miltassia Shelob 'Tolkien' is what it reads. Miltassia did get reclassified as Bratonia and there are a couple of Shelob hybrids that look very similar so Ray is right, there is no way to know for sure if yours is 'Tolkien' without a tag. But it is definitely Bratonia Shelob.

Here is a photo from the Orchid Works website - they are an oncidiinae orchid plug producer and have pumped out a lot of Bratonia Shelob 'Tolkien' AM/AOS (they are still using the old Miltassia)

Bratonia (I think it sounds bad! miss the old name!) Shelob and one other less known hybrid, which I forgot the name of come to mind.

Not sure which one for sure, though!

Some sort of Aliceria was what first came to mind for me. Either way, some sort of hybrid with Brassia in the mix.
