Default Oncidium sphacelatum Shows Off a Little

This orchid is really huge, like 7 ft in diameter. It has been sporatically bloomimg for several months and will continue to do so for several more as there are still a lot of young spikes. It is not at its blooming peak yet, but still it is making quite a show. I have proclaimed it to be the world's largest hanging Oncidium sphacelatum unless it is disproved otherwise. There certainly could be larger examples, and I would love to see them. Its a challenge!

I estimate approximately 300 lbs. My back can attest to it. I am just recovering from 38000$ back surgery partially as a result from lifting this thing around. So, not only is it the world's largest, but to me also the world's most expensive.

I have only had this monster since last summer. I am told the father of the fellow I purchased it from was a skilled welder and he constructed the support from rebar. I have no clue how he managed all the repots over it's at least 30 year life with him. I didn't get the whole story from the son but I suspect it is even older than that.
