Trichopilia Hennesiana
Default Trichopilia Hennesiana

Hi. Here is my trichopilia Hennesiana. As far as I know tri hennensiana is purw white but this one has little reddish spots. Saw somewhere there is a hybrid called tri comfort and this might be that. Any ideas? It is super fragrant and a very low maintenance to plant to look after.

Trichopilia hennisiana and Trichopilia Comfort (Trpla. hennisiana x Trpla. suavis) do look almost alike. Trpla. hessisiana should be plain white with the yellow mark, while Comfort generally has at least faint pink spots in the lip from the Trpla. suavis parent, and may have some spotting all over. I think you probably do have Comfort.

There are no other registered hybrids with Trpla. hennisiana or with Comfort, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be some out there, and they could be very similar, so it isn't really possible to completely rule out some other hybrid.

Nicely grown. We don't see enough Trichopilia.

Thanks for the info. I love tri suavis and it is almost impossible to find it in Europe. All the nurseries sell tri tortilis.the only time we see suavis the orchid shows

A very charming flower. My vote goes for Trichopilia Comfort too. I grow hennisiana from two sources, they look different, and I see the influence of suavis. I agree that an intense coloured Trichopilia suavis is hard to find in the European market, I am on the hunt too.

I think this is tri comfort too. Yes once tri suavis was on ebay and they asked fortune for just back bulbs :-(
