Jeron,I have it in a northwest facing window where it gets bright light, but no sun. being a large plant,it needs watering fairly often, and I confess to overlooking it often enough for it to suffer from crinkled leaves. I use distilled water mixed with well water (which is very hard)half and half. It gets dilute fertilizer at 1/4% of the recipe on the box,at every other watering and flowers when it wants. Being in a room by itself,it doesn't get a lot of attention, and then there are blossoms! I think luck enters the picture.

Great blooms and fantistic color. Don't you just love the Oncid Alliance hybrids?

I have a Mtssa. Kalaepaa 'Kauai Princess', which I bought it from an OB member, trying to climb out it's pot, or split it. When they do that I'm tempted to divide them to make it more managable but I always end up repotting the whole plant. I haven't the heart to split it up.

Darth Vader 'Dark Sky' is really a challange, so much so that I'm afraid I will need to divide that one......if it ever quits blooming. I'm going to repot part of it into a plastic waste basket. It is in S/H so you can imagine how heavy it has become. I'm not a Spring Chicken any more, but, I like to take them upstairs when they bloom. I'm afraid 'Darth Vader' is going to become a permanent basement resident because of it's size and weight, even if I do split it up.

I grow mine under high light, S/H in either PA or Hydroton, fert 1/4 strength every watering, it is a thirsty rascal.

Jeron, the conditions I give it to flower are to put it in a west facing window that is protected from hot western sun by 20 foot tall evergreen hedge. I water it with 50% distilled and 50% well water (which is very hard),fertilize it every other watering with 1/4 the recommended fertilizer. Then pretty much ignore it until I check it one day for dryness, and voila! There is a bud and a flower hiding in all that foliage.

Jeron, the plant is in a northwest facing window, and a tall evergreen hedge keeps the hot sun off it. I water it when I think of it,and fertilize it every other watering with 1/4 strength Peter's 30-10-10. I didn't even know it had a bloom coming as it was nestled down in the foliage, but when it opened I saw it.

Nancy, thanks for the info...
The plant looks really healthy other than the pleated leaves. It can't be getting that much light in location you describe, this time of year - I see you are further north than me
I tend to 'care' for my plants too much and over water them!

Jeron, the plant is in the only space I had for it. But happily,it likes it there. I don't think the plant itself is any beauty, but the flowers are worth it. It does get a lot of reflection from a couple of feet of snow, and that helps.

Nice flowers.....It's kind of an odd time for Miltassias to be blooming. Usually they are at the end of the summer.
