(Rhynchostele bictoniensis x Oncidium cariniferum)
aka Oncostele Masai Red, tho RHS currently has it as Colmanara ...
I got this one two years ago from a neighbor with a plant service business - one of very many "retired" orchids sitting on a bench - all out of bloom, most in various states of neglect - I grabbed this one because it seemed to be in quite good shape!
This is an extremely robust plant, as well as being quite tolerant of low overnight winter temps here in zone 9 (sheltered).
Five spikes this year (one not yet blooming). All have 7-8 blooms/buds. The blooming spikes all still have a bud or two yet to open. 3" blooms appear smaller due to the size of the leaves.
Potted in an 8" plastic azalea pot, coconut husk chips mix. I try to keep potting media from drying out completely. Gets some direct afternoon sun.
Thanks for looking
