Sheesh!!! How did I miss this one Sonya!!? I am always cruising here. This is beautiful. Nice grab girl. You did good. Nicely grown too. Most folks can get one, maybe two spikes and here you've got a bunch. Very good. Thanks for showing us.

Thanks, James

Well, I'm a reluctant divider, so - more growths = more spikes! Tho, I've only had this two years now, and I put it in this pot (was in a 4" pot when I got it) when I got it, so certainly haven't considered dividing it up to this point. It's trying to out-do my Onc Sharry Baby in making me crazy about how quickly it can become ginormous!

It was growing in a different spot last summer, then from the previous - I wasn't certain it would get sufficient light in the new spot - apparently it does!

Most oncids will bloom in less light than the culture sheets and commercial growers would have us believe. If you let this become a specimen, when you repot it make sure you put something like gravel or peanuts under the center of the root mass so it doesn't stay wet. When small they can dry out there easily but when they get large the air can't penetrate to the center of the root mass due to the very numerous roots and that is where fungus will start. Once started it quickly compromises the plant before you actually see the effects.
