Default Oncidium maculatum

another new acquisition, this is another Mexican species, with some really interesting traits.

multiple flowers within each spike, flowers around 5cm in diameter (some flowers measured around 4.5) also very fragrant and long lasting, flower substance is plastic like. plant is medium to large sized, temperature tolerant , and likes humidity.

some pictures, now will post full inflorescence pics tomorrow when good light is available

Love this little guy. Do you have a photo of the entire plant? It is a primary parent in my intergeneric hybrid. Always find it fascinating to see which traits are passed on to offspring.

I acquired an orchid collection (from a divorcing couple) that had one in it. Potted, the first blooming threw two spikes - one 7 feet tall, the other 8!

I now have it in a basket hung up near the vandas, and it typically throws 4 or 5 spikes at a time, usually 3'-5' in length.
