Miltonidium rosy sunset

so after 4 days of going through the hell with unreal cold weather in South Florida my chids are back at the balcony. There will be some that will go to orchid heaven unfortunately but I hope not many. On the good note, some during the boxed stage open the spikes and bloomed and some even grew new spikes.
This baby was growing it's spikes inside the leaves for probably quite some time, I did not see it unfortunately till last month when wondering why it did not bloom for months, and found 3 spikes grown to the leave. I could not save 2 but the third one I was able to remove, It did not grow longer but it did finish production of the buds and opened, and there is another spike already growing:-) Pretty small blooms.

Thanks for posting these sweet little flowers. I had this in my first collection years ago and still miss it because it always bloomed when it was too cold outside.

I hope you get a break from the weather soon. I used to think in Miami all you needed was a hose-end sprayer with weak fertilizer a couple of times a week.

This looks just like my Oncidium Rosy Sunset. Did the name change?

Ah, Nevermind! They are the same plant. It looks like either name is correct though, because one of the hybrid parents is a miltonia and the other is an Oncidium. Cool!

Many thanks, it is funny, I have it outside year round and it was actually spiking like crazy whole fall, when I did not see the spikes goring inside, however temps here were extremely hot:-) Will see after these cold fronts if it starts spiking even more:-)

Many thanks RandomGemini, I go always with the name provided by seller, but I realized long time ago that it must be the same plant like Oncidium Rosy Sunset because when I saw pictures of the Oncidium I knew it is the same bloom:-)

I love this little guy. I just got mine in November, it had two spikes on it, the first one hadn't put out any buds yet, but the other one was just packed with flowers. I couldn't pass it up when I saw all of those flowers. Mine is also pretty small, it's in a 3 inch pot and the plant itself is maybe six inches high.

How big is your plant? Does yours normally bloom in the winter months? If so... then I think this one will definitely be staying in my collection.

RandomGemini it is pretty big, I mean, not Oncidium big, but definitely not "as small" as I always see them on the shows! I did bloom when I got it in May, than during fall it grew some 3 spikes but they did grow inside the leaves, and I did not see it, so I lost them, than this spike I found in December, there is new spike growing now, it seems to me it pretty much blooms the whole year from every new growth:-)

Mine's in a 3" pot right now. I have a Sharry Baby and a Sweet Sugar, so I was hoping Rosy Sunset would be a smaller oncidium, to give me a bit of variety. I like the scent of my Sharry Baby better, some people say Rosy Sunset smells like vanilla, mine smells sort of like cupcakes mixed with cat pee. Even though I think it smells bad, I do like the plant enough to forgive the fact that it smells kinda funky. LOL!

I always described mine as cupcakes and cat piss lol.
