so i bought the plant in flower, and the flowers have died off like 2 months ago. im yet to see any kind of new growth of any kind. im wondering if this plant needs a winter rest? also where im likely to see new growth develop

Do you have other orchids?
Wildcat is basically oncidium and you can grow it just like one.
It does have rest period but grows continuously throughout the year flowering a couple of times a year when properly cared for.

2 months after flowers have finished sounds like enough time for new growths to appear.
Yours could be just slow.
or perhaps you are keeping it too cold??

New growths will appear at the base of the round pseudobulb. Depending on the type, some may sprout lots and lots of new shoots.

These are usually vigorous growers.

i am keeping it in the balcony window, it might be too cold. ill put it a few feet away by my monitor.
its got a big pseudobulb with a smaller one in front which seems to be getting slightly taller, but no new bulb or leaf growth anywhere. i've read that if the pseudobulbs are wrinkled that its not getting enough water, the bigger bulb has 4 deep crease-like wrinkles in it, the smaller one only has 2 and they've decreased a but since bringing it home. do you think maybe they're just not getting enough water? its still in the pot i bought it in, black plastic, and i dont know how well it retains moisture or even where the roots are situated

The smaller bulb is an older one. The wrinkling is not bad and you always get some. I would not worry about that wrinkling as long as it doesn't get much worse.

As for the growth, l think just be patient.

What is your wildcat potted in? Bark chip mix or moss?? You can stick your finger into the mix a little and feel the moisture level. If too dry, then soak the whole thing and drain completely.
Then lift the pot and feel the weight.
Lift the pot in a few days (I'd say about 4, 5 days) and check the weight of the pot again.
If it feels significantly light, then it's time to water.

If you feel cold indoor, then your orchid might feel the same. As long as it is too cool for the plant, there will be no new growths until it gets a bit warmer.

Regarding wrinkles, as Rosie says, it is common and when not too severe, it does not hurt the plant much.
However, you are also right in that it is a indication of water loss. I personally don't like the look of it so I always aim to keep all pbs nice and fat.
Even when the plant is slightly dehydrated, when it's time, you will see new shoots, but with not enough water, those new ones will not grow well but accordion.

Keep your plant in warm and bright location and it should grow. If you cannot provide this environment, then keep your plant on slightly dry side until favorable conditions returns in the spring.

i can see theres moss in the bottom of the pot through the drain holes, and i can feel theres bark in the pot, but i cant see any of the roots because they are beneath the bark level and there is moss on top of the pot as well. i was considering repotting it into a glass pot but i was going to wait until it was starting some new growths
