Default what a nice surprise!

I'm not sure of the exact name of this plant but it's a brassia and I didn't know that they can flower from an old bulb again!! I bought her in the spring of this year in flower and after that, a new growth. So i wasn't expecting a spike till spring next year or until the new growth matures but!!! here she is with a spike!

Thanks guys! I changed my culture when fall started. once the cold weather kicked in, i switched to a blooming fertilizer then a high nitrogen at the end of the month. I read somewhere that this works and it did for me!

Whoa hold the phone! Could you share the details on what you did?

What bloom fertilizer, how much, and how long? Same for the nitrogen, which one, how much, how often...?

I wanna try too!

during the spring and summer months i was fertilizing with a high nitrogen from better gro (20-14-13) and once the chill came, i started the blooming fertilizer from dyna gro (3-12-6). the application is for the first two weeks of the month, i use the dyna gro and then on the third week, i flush and on the fourth week, i apply the better gro fertilizer. This plant is by the windowsill so it gets good morning sun but it really feels the chill at the same time. Thanks and goodluck!
