Grr i feel like a dummi.. i have all the orchids books and i did read them and it seemed to me that white roots are healthy...i will send you pics and close ups of how they look... its rrly important for me to keep those babys alive... since i got them from my boyfriend ( hopefully future husbi ) s

Edytka, white can be healthy, however it is hard to say if it is healthy and little dry or just perfect, without any pics. Also, did you check also the roots inside? Are they also white and good looking? That's why I do recommend clear plastic pot, it is great when you learn how to take care of your orchids, and you can see roots/medium inside. You can also judge if the pot needs watering by the weight - try to hold the pot few times before you water, and than after you water, than you will be ale to at least assume, by taking the pot into your hands, if it is too light and needs watering:-) Just few tips:-)

Your roots should be white when dry and green when wet, so if they are white then the plants is most likely healthy
