Default Tolumnia in ecoweb

Got a shipment from Ray today that included baskets made of ecoweb with a saucer with holes on the bottom. Very simple design but I see a bright future for these tolumnia, which get misted heavily twice a day.

Really, they like that much water? I got a Tolumnia from Ray as well & have only been dipping its tiny pot about twice a week (although the roots do look a bit dry...).
I guess I sort of answered my own question, so... lol
Cool pots!

So you have to remember that this stuff dries pretty fast. It holds loads of water droplets but also dries fast. What you don't see here is that I have excellent ventilation too.

The plants themselves are ones I have been growing already.

In South Florida I see lots of Tolumnia grown on tree fern fiber. I think Ecoweb would provide the same type of environment.

I'm excited to see what comes of it!!! Tolumnia have fine roots too and they will enjoy the network of fiber and holes on this thing.

Checked this morning and the Eco web was mostly dry. Only the very center had a few droplets. I may move these off to the side so they get a little less water and so they dry out completely before the lights turn off mid morning. I grow in the basement and my photo period runs from evening to morning so I can enjoy them more.

How long is your photoperiod in the winter?
Also, thanks for the explanation of variables.

I am not sure what time they run now as I'm in the transition phase, which I may not need to change much more. I think the period is about 11-12 hours now. During the summer I up it to more like 14-15. I'm growing in a new space right now and I had to install a heater to keep it from cooling off too much for my warm growers. When it's lights on, it warms up in to the 80s pretty easily and then cools off to high sixties if I have my space heater in there.

Pretty much - except that tree fern actually does absorb some water (not much though), while Ecoweb does not.
