For those interested, upon repotting I found a tag in this orchid.
It is not a zygo!
The tag says... bollopetalum Midnight Blue.

Still beautiful, and I would have had a very hard time passing it up!

now known as a zygotoria. It's a cross between a zygopetalum and a pescatoria.

With those colours, I would have needed emotional support from family to stop myself from getting it.

Here it is out of bloom, in its new home on my window sill. Freshly repotted and in its snazzy new decorative elephant pot.

I had lots of emotional support that day. They supported me straight to the register.

It is beautiful. Trader Joe's is wonderful.

I see!
I've heard about Midnight Blue. no wonder it has such nice deep blue tone on the flowers.

I want one!!!

My TJ had another round of zygos for a short two weeks in November before all the orchids were replaced by pumpkins and brown and yellow mums.
They were much bigger plants than what I bought earlier, and the flowers were smaller and rounder with hardly no scent. didn't pick up anything.

I will keep my eyes out for next year.
Please Midnight Blue in the new year!

I think the one you have might be midnight blue as well. Perhaps their individual colours are affected by their production process.
Like how mericloning phals can lead to variances I'm the same cultivar.

I would have put all my groceries away just to afford it. How many times have I walked away from a grocery store with one flower and no food?

Luckily it was pretty cheap lol.
Also I don't grocery shop at Trader Joe's. Just orchid shop.
