Baptistonia echinata, new pbulb or spike? Male
Default Baptistonia echinata, new pbulb or spike?

This is my first Baptistonia so I don't know anything about her blooming habits. This new growth I just discovered, is this a new pseudobulb or could it be a spike?

Flowering in springtime, I assume it is a new bulb. Spikes are also thin and round.

Thank you. I supposed it would be a new bulb. The more bulbs it has, the more spikes I can get. Does the spike grow from the base of the bulb like most oncidiums?

Yes, from the base of a mature bulb. They easily exhaust themselves by the large number of flowers they bear.
