Phantasm,
Thank you so much for taking time to help with what I deemed confusing. I repotted my Miltoniopsis right away yesterday and so glad I did. It was in sphagnum moss and many of the roots were dead. I was told to keep it moist and never let it dry out. Plus to keep out of light....more like a phal. So you have saved a plant clear across the US. Thanks again. Guess I better be paying more attention to success stories such as yours and not rely on what the greenyhouse grower says. (BTW, this was a regular greenhouse, not an orchid greenhouse). Thanks again! kiki-do

You are welcome kiki-do....

Many wholesale growers will grow seedlings in moss, and they typically grow very well in their conditions. The problem is that this doesn't hold up very well in most conditions and the roots will rot. Whenever I get plants in moss, I immediately repot them.
Part of their advice was good, keep the plants evenly moist for good results. It's not unusual for non-orchid people to give incomplete information. These plants also need more than Phalaenopsis light!
