My Rossioglossum re blooming beauty!

Once again my beautiful Rossioglossum grande has come into bloom for me this time with four blooms instead of three. It is so lovely The petals are 13.5 cm across.

Love it! How do you get yours to bloom? I have had a grande and a Rawdon Jester for several years and have yet to see them bloom. They grow but never look overly healthy.

Thanks Silken. I have had this one for a year it spiked for me just after I got it last year and it is blooming again. I kept mine very dry and very cold from beginning of October to when it started growing new pbulbs this Januray - I think.

Someone on another forum said that it looks as if it is a Rawdon Jester ... I shall have to ask the nursery to make sure but I am fairly confident that it is a grade.

Thanks for the info. I do follow that culture fairly close. Maybe not dry enough. Mine seems very small even tho it was supposed to be near bloom size when I got it in 2009! If it bloomed for you with the very cool conditions, I would say it is the grande as the Rawdon Jester needs a bit warmer conditions with the other parent in it. It looks like the grande pictures in OW to me. My grande is a much darker green than my Rawdon Jester and much smaller.

Thanks again. I have just e mailed the seller and so I shall see what he says. I think that it is a grande though as it looks more like it to my eye anyway.

Silken this is a link to a culture sheet that I followed religiously - sort of It obviously helped me no end. It should have yours blooming by next Autumn!

Thanks Susie11. I'll go over it again and make sure I follow more closely. I hung mine from a tree outside last year but didn't do that this year. I likely should have as it would be cooler than the greenhouse in summer. Providing cool in the winter is no problem! we've been having a lot of heat for weeks now near 30C every day. But I give them less light and have a swamp cooler and good air movement so that should help.
