Miltoniopsis orchid sensitive to repotting when in flower? Male
Default Miltoniopsis orchid sensitive to repotting when in flower?

That's basically my question cause I bought a miltoniopsis a week ago and it is packed in peat moss the water takes a while to drain. It has about 7 flower spikes though which will be a waste if they all die after repotting. Im planning to repot it in pure sphagnum moss.

All miltoniopsis I have bought over the years came in the dark peat like mix.
I never changed them and so far so good.

The way I water is that I fill the decorative pot that holds the plastic pot the plant usually comes in, with water. let it soak for 5-10 minutes.
Then dump out the water. I take the plastic pot out and either sit it in the sink while draining completely, or just simply leave it in the decorative pot, but check a couple more times to dump out the water that collect at the bottom of the pot.

I guess I'll just wait. Ill be careful with my watering though. It really takes a while for the water to seep in from the top it almost looks like soil!

Yep, and that is why I water the way I do.
