from Orchid Wiz:

It's parents are Onc. Serendipity (Onc cirrhosum x praestanoides) x Ons. Larraine's Fourteeth Woc (Ons. Rustic Bridge x Onc. Debutante)

why don't you try and cross-pollinate ? find someone willing to donate pollen. Do at least 3 flowers, gives you 3x the chance of being successful.

Gee wiz.. I have never done that. I am a newbie! Just got lucky buying this plant.
I am thrilled to have the parentage for this plant. .. I am willing to try the pollination bit, but I don't have another plant like it. It would be fun.
I almost got rid of this plant.

Thank you so much for doing this research for me. I did not realize what a special plant this is. I managed to garner a second place at my local orchid society meeting a few days ago. I plan on being kinder to this plant by first repotting it in new medium. The plant is still in its 3 inch square pot and very 'wobbly'. I put the whole works in a clay pot with lots of bark around and on top of existing container.
I also need to be consistent with orientation to the light source. The presentation is not that great. I would like to show this plant next year and do a better job presenting it.
I am quite happy never less to have gotten this plant to flower.!

I would not repot this by taking it out of the pot it is in right now. I would drop it into another pot along with the pot it is in until it completely fills the pot it is in. Oncids and their relatives don't like to be repotted especially at the wrong time of the season. It sets them back quite a ways. Next year this will give you twice the flower count and be a lot larger and stronger.

Smile repoting oncidium

when is a good time to repot Oncidium? i was going to wait until the flower stem withered. is there a special season for repotting? i did just what was suggested. I Placed the old square pot into another bigger pot and filled it all with bark medium.
