Growth and repot? my brassidium

This brassidium started growing this new lead a while ago, and now I can se the leaf and even some new roots. I had recently repotted this into the smallest pot I could find, because there were some rot problems and I wasn't sure how long the new roots would take. There is also another smaller growth that has been progressing VERY slowly compared to this one. Here are, some pictures, and my question is: should I repot, or wait another season?

By the growth of the plant - does it seem as tho the new ones have room to develop without hanging over the side of the pot? From what I can see, I think it should be ok until the currently growing leads get new leads themselves, but I'm not sure.

Doesn't hurt to wait and see how it goes

I agree with Sonya. It would be a shame to disturb it again if you don't have to. When the roots start growing, you could maybe coax them to the inside rather than outside of the pot if they don't go there themselves. Then re-pot next year.

I would actually repot the plant into a larger pot now. I think I see tiny small roots starting. This is a good time to repot.
Also, I don't think there's enough space left for the new shoot as it will grow into quite the size of pb with tons of roots of its own.
So I would definitely slide this thing into a large pot. then not worry about it for two years or so. lol

Brassia's don't like to have their roots messed with too often. Their roots break easily in handling and rot sets in immediately. But.... The older pbulbs have set roots already and if you had problems with rot, I might be tempted to repot this. Not right now though. Wait until the new growth has grown roots and they are at least 2-3 inches long. I usually wait until they are 1-2 inches but I would wait on this one. When you repot this, inspect the rootball for dead roots especially underneath the inner part. There is little to no air movement under there because these have such numerous roots. I would pot it in a medium mix. Not too tight. It will have a propensity to stay too wet under that rootball so good airflow in the room would be a good bet. When you repot don't increase the size of the pot too much. Brassias and their relatives don't like to be potted in larger pots with too much extra room. Also clean up all the old leaf sheath material on the old pbulbs. Just use tweezers. That is a great place to hide if you are a mealy bug, soft or hard scale, or a thrip.

It's best (safe) to repot when new roots just start. The longer you wait, the more likely those new roots will be crushed or broken off.

That's true but I have found with Brassias and oncids that if you wait until they are about 1-2 inches long they really take off and dive down into the media instead of growing along the surface. Just my experience.
