Dearney. My Pink Panther is still going string, and it looks like it could branch. There is a little start of a branch, but it isn't doing much (or it's growing very slowly...) Mine has been in bloom for since early January and the flowers are lasting quite well. I entered it in the North Jersey Orchid show in January and it got a second place ribbon. The winner was a Genting Leopard with multiple spikes - it deserved to win

The name is entirely in reference to the Song of Ice and Fire saga. I was surprised it was available, frankly.

I love her character once her brother is...well..."crowned" by her husband. Lol. I so want my own dragon!
The plants in the tiny pots simply grow out of them. I have found the roots cling to the pot and they grow fans right up on the edge and out of the pot. It's a neat effect if the plant is kept well watered but having them mounted like yours is pretty fun to see. I have a few mounted, one on sun bleached wood from an old tree and another on lava rock. The lava rock was unintentional. It was growing next to this big chunk of rock and when I moved the plant some fans stayed behind on the rock! It later fell off but I mounted it securely on the rock again and it's been happy since.
I have a growing collection of these guys. Next to bloom is a cross named Lady Gaga!!!! Lol

Nice blooms and like the mount as well. Pilot, I would like to see yours on the lava rock some time. I got my first Tolumnia 'Genting Orange' about a year ago and it's in spike again. I'm very excited about that but I am now wondering what to do when it comes time to repot. I've heard these plants don't like to be repotted. Mine is growing out of it's tiny clay pot and now has roots growing everywhere. Any ideas?

Can't wait to see that one! Should be an interesting looking cross, given its namesake :-)

Well sometimes you have to get inventive with planting these things. If you feel you cannot repot the plant without doing it harm, perhaps soaking it for a while to make the roots pliable and then removing it from the pot will work... Or even attaching the pot itself to a wood mount that conceals the pot? Adding a few long strands of moss will help the roots and ease the plant into its new home. Just some ideas.
Ill post pics of the lava rock mount soon.

Ryan, love the lava rock mount! Are the roots down into the lava rock? I don't see them on the surface.
