My daughters name is Anna and the name of this plant is Sheila Ann but apparently i find it nearly impossible to type just ann versus anna. Lol
I cannot believe this orchid isn't awarded. It one of the more crazy patterned and colored orchids I own. Maybe it is award, I have no idea and never checked.
Anyway, this plant was bought at the Denver orchid society show and sale nearly a year ago. I abused this plant nearly to death. I do this to see just how tough these things can be. Ok not really, but I did abuse it and with the hottest, driest summer I've known in Colorado, this thing was not happy. It was growing two new bulbs but they were so small and stunted. I finally set up my basement for a grow area and was able to provide much better conditions and it grew one of the bulbs quickly and sent out a spike. It isn't the best looking flower this year. The colors aren't as vivid and the flowers aren't shaped as nicely as before. I blame its bad year. I replanted it in sh, as it was in sh before, but planted too high. It seems to have taken hold now that its planted a little deeper.
First photo is this year, second is last year... You can see the difference. Hoping I do better with it this coming year!
