Is this a stem/node coming out from Miltoniopsis?
Thumbs up Is this a stem/node coming out from Miltoniopsis?

Hi all, this morning I found this tiny node-looking thing coming out of the side of the bulbs I also noticed a new leaf forming from the same bulb.

Can anyone tell me whether this thing i see (the little blip on the right hand side of the bulb) is a new stem/node or something else?

Thanks.

unfortunately its nothing to get excited about. Anything from the sides is
Milts get those often. I even have a couple of seedlings with that growth on top and side of the main bulb.

BTW - this post is in the wrong section ? not sure who tracks this...

Yes, I mistakenly posted it in a wrong section. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. Then, what is this growth?

It stays small, shouldn't grow any more....I have them on my zygo's too.
At one stage I researched and found that someone said that it could grow into a bulb. That hasn't happened with any of mine. I occasionally see them in nursery plants too, it may be just be an anomaly in the plant biology

To be honest I can't see what growth you are talking about. Is it the little bit at the base of the leave where it joins the p-bulb? If so mine have had that and it's never developed into anything. Both spikes and new growths come from the base of the p-bulb coming up between the leaves at the base usually.

PS. I've moved this thread for you.
