I was at a meeting last week for the emergency service i'm a member of and was chatting and the topic of orchids came up and one of the blokes turned and told me he had 'a scrappy looking orchid in the back corner of his yard that he would be happy to pass on and did I want it'. He told me he thought it was called a spider orchid so I suspected Brassia but by his description I thought it would be in very poor condition. Well imagine my delight when he rocked on up with this stunning verrucosa tonight! Four lovely flower spikes, 11 leaved psuedobulbs, 6 backbulbs and four new leads. It looks marginally dry but nothing that a good potting mixture won't fix.

Score! You must be thrilled. I hope you played it down when you saw it and pretended like you were doing him a huge favour by taking it off of his hands.
