My baby needs help fast, her name is sharry
I desperately need help with my sharry baby. I purchased her as a very healthy looking division with giant back bulbs. She had just been divided and potted so I had no concern for root rot or anything, she was also sending out a new pseudobulb. All signs pointed to a healthy plant. When I took her home she started to wither a bit within days of me getting her, the new growth had not produced its own roots yet so I just figured it was drawing from the back bulbs. This withering got so bad that the back bulbs were almost completely shrivelled by the time the large new growth produced its own roots. I peaked into the pot only to find that the back bulbs had no roots. The only roots on this plant were the new little ones that the new growth produced. But at least she had some roots. I had a peak today and the roots are dead from the point they touch the medium down. So now what I'm left with are just the roots between the medium and the growth. Clearly she needs to get out of that medium but I don't know what to do now. I don't wanna just toss her in more sphag and hope that the roots that were in air will take to the moss. She is too big for sphag in a bag cause her leaves are about 18"-24" long and her pseudobulb is another 3 inches. She is too big for my terrariums but she obviously needs some humidity. The new growth is now fully mature and sending out a spike. It is my understanding that mature growths will no longer produce new roots. I need some help with this one. I just wanna put her in some kind of sterile, humid bubble but I have no idea how I can do that with her size. Help my baby please. Her name is sharry
