Default Odbrs Pisgah Recluse in bloom for second time

This Odontobrassia Pisgah Recluse was a non-blooming size bonus plant from Carter & Holmes 3 or 4 years ago. This is its second year of blooming, and this is the second blooming this year from the same growth. I've seen it referred to as the brown spider orchid.

The spike is 2 feet tall. Each blossom is about 8 inches tall and 5 inches across, and the spike has 12 flowers/buds on it.

It is in a 5 inch clay pot and bark. It's grown in intermediate temps with high intermediate light. It is summered outside and in my GH for the winter where the nigh temps can be a low as 50 degrees F. The first flower spike was in August and then this one started immediately after.

Oh man, mine just bloomed a couple of months ago and I cut off the spike when the last bloom died. I guess I should've left it on.

I got mine from C&H as well and it bloomed within six months of arrival. I have it in a slatted basket which it seems to love, under a grow light.

Next time I'll leave the spike and see if I get new blooms. Thanks for the heads-up!

No need to leave a spent spike. I got two spikes from a single growth. the spikes were "one-at-a-time" though.
