Ryan, you must get these plants. They are just AMAZING!
Not only they are very attrative and unique, but they are quite long lasting and one of the best smelling plants I've ever had!
Most of them are VERY nicely scented and some of them emit fragrance quite strong to a point where in the middle of the day, it can be overwhemling (in a nice way, of course!).
I always loved these plants but never bought any until this year as I always head how fussy they are and they are cool growers (I don't do cool growers, just don't)/
Well, I bought a whole bunch earlier this year. flowers lasted about 2 months on average, although my yellow miltoniopsis lasted shorter than that.
They all survived the summer heat fine. they all have lots of little new growths on them. I really have to repot them.
By the way, I think they will do amazingly well in Colorado as it doesn't get that hot there even in the summer, right? Well, I know it can get hot in the summer, but you have low humidity so by reducing light a little, the temp drops quite a bit.
I used to live in Utah and I remember being so hot in the sun, but being under a tree, it was a whole another world! and the summer evening, very cool and nice!
By the way, you might want to try these as s/h as these love humidity but humidity is low in Colorado.
I'm thinking of repotting some of mine in peat moss and some in s/h.
I hope not, but even if these all die somehow, I plan to buy these every time I see nice ones in season just so I can enjoy the flowers and their wonderful scent!
