Psychopsis papilio var. albiflora
This is the so-called albino variety of the species. I am impressed with how sturdy this plant is. Last year it was producing buds when, for some reason, the plant had all its roots rotted. It stayed several months with no root at all, but didn't give up! Kept the flower stalk green, holding the development of a semi-formed bud and now, almost a year later, some roots are being produced, as well as a new growth, and that dormant bud finally became this beautiful flower! And all this with almost no dehydration! Go figure!!

Gloria, sometimes the orchid gods smile on my efforts! But, that's not always! Many times, as we all well know, being almost a year without roots means severe dehydration!

My favourite species! I'm still waiting for mine to spike but I expect it is not getting enough light.

Sometimes Life just takes a turn that doesn't neatly fit neatly into easy explanations. . .and it's a wonder that Mauro is ready to pounce on the opportunity to help it right along!
I am thinking that one might have done not nearly so well without you, Mauro!
Bravo!

Dumb question
What did i buy? The label says'Oncidium kramerianum X versteegianum.
I bought this little guy because I fell in love with the foliage, it is so pretty. After I bought it someone said it is a Butterfly orchid. Is that correct? If it is, I really don't have room for it......if it ever decides to bloom.
