I think mine might be getting a little too much light! I am seeing just the tiniest bit of browning on two of the leaf tips today. . .

What is your light in footcandles? If you know.

Wonder if I should take it down to 500 to 1000 fc?

Thanks for sharing photos and cultural tips. Nice to see new pseudobulb growth.

Yes, self pollinated.

Cneos, I was wondering about that too!

Does something bad happen if the orchids kept indoors are not pollinated?

Nothing that I'm aware of ... the bloom lasts its normally expected time, withers away and dies.

Even the cleanest home or greenhouse is not totally free of potential (insect) pollinators. A few times, I've had seed pods develop and wondered about the pollen parent.

Jasen took the mystery put of the process by intentionally taking pollen from one flower and putting it on the flower that (hopefully) becomes the pod parent. Let us know if you were successful!

I want seeds from it, and if I wait too long to pollinate it, there is less chance of success. Most would like the flower to be around for a while, I'm more interested in reproduction purposes....right now. It appears to have taken, I'll know for sure in a couple more days.

Wow! This one is stunning!! I'm new to orchids, and really interested in what others are growing. This is one I'll definately add to my wish list of chids to buy once I have more experience. Is it difficult to keep it happy?

This one seems to like high humidity, lots of light, and as much air flow as you can give it. I noticed this morning, it is already starting another bud, on the other spike.
