I thought of you yesterday. I stocked up on some serious tolumnia!!! I posted pics of them in another sub cat of this forum. The one pot has so many fans its busting out of it! No spike on that one but I got two others that are also awarded plants. One of them is Tolu Valentine, a deep, rich red.

I think it's in a misc forum here...Something about showing photos. Can't remember. Lol

Found it:

One was just labeled tolumnia hybrid, but the photo looked so nice that I had to have it. I think the other one is called Mitzi, and is deep red. The first one was a really good buy, healthy with at least 7 fans. I bought them on Ebay

Mitzi is I guess Popoki Mitzi. It is a well known hybrid. Some are awarded.
I have two or three of these. Many of the online pictures of this flower is not accurate.
The pictures look much nicer than what the flowers actually look like.

Yes, you are right about that. Someone pointed that out to me. When I bought the plant the photo showed the flowers as bright red. Since then I have seen several photos of burgundy ones.

Wow, you guys make me want to try those again. So, all this time I thought they were some form of oncidium, are they not really related to Oncidiums?

I think they were called equant Oncidiums at some point and then were renamed to Tulumnia.

Thanks Carrie! I think they were sold as just plain Oncidium about 30+ years ago, I've not seen them for sale since. But that's probably because of where I've lived. Wish I'd had the Internet back then!

Tolumnias spiking!
Default Pretty N Pink fully open! :)

I have two of these. These grow and flower the best among all tolumnias I have.

I thought my other tolumnias have few flowers because of the low humidity, but it could well be just the genetics or they are more sensitive to low humidity.

Anyways, all 13 flowers and 3 flower on the little side spike are open and I love looking at these little flowers.
This plant is also growing a small new fan.

The other plant of the same kind is about to flower very soon. It last flowered in April with 9 flowers.
Now I see about 12 buds and I'm so excited!
This one is also growing two new fans.

Looks terrific! I've had more success with Tolumnias this year than every before, but I don't even come close to you . Two of mine in pots are done flowering and a third which is mounted should open soon.
