Vuyl. Cambria Male
Default Vuyl. Cambria

This plant of Vuyl. Cambria has always been a reliable bloomer for me. This year producing 9 spikes with a total of 70 flowers.
I grow it in a sphagnum/perlite mix and fertilize every other watering.

70 blooms! What a great plant. Interesting colorings on your Cambria. I have been looking at lots of pictures of this plant as I want to get one. There is lots of variation but I haven't seen one like yours yet. I like the orange-red color.

Hi Jane Eyre,
Vuyl Cambria is variable amongst its range, especially with the clone "Plush", The other varieties such as "Linda' and 'Lensings Favourite" seem to be a little more consistant across a group of plants.
In fact i believe that the Dutch producers have finally stopped mericloning Cambria "Plush" for the pot plant market as there must be millions of these plants produced over the years.
This has to be the most mericloned plant in history, lol.
I fortunately obtained a piece (at a rather large cost), of a division of one of the very first mericlones ever released.I also have a tetraploid version (4N) which I am using in my current breeding program.
All in all, which ever plant you aquire, I find it easy to grow, producing multiple leads and spikes which last well.
Cheers

Very interesting. The first time I saw Cambria was a picture in a book I received as a gift when I got into orchids. It was a 'Lensings Favourite' and I immediately fell in love with it. I have been looking but have not seen any vendors in the US selling it so far. I keep looking from time to time.
Thanks for sharing this little bit of info.
