Mine is in bloom now and the flowers are missing the maroon dot on the lips.
By the way, if you saw mine, you'd be shocked by how truly monster it is. I wish mine was like yours. The leaves are mostly erect on your plant.
Mine grow very long and large leaves that bend a little and they get all over the place taking up too much space.
I've been looking for a replacement that is a little smaller in plant size, but all the ones I've found so far had terrible spotting issues (not just those spots like yours have but truly disease spotts all over including new growths), so I'm still on the look out for a replacement.

It didn't take mine long to become this monster - wasn't small when I got it, but snug in a 4" pot, only took 3 years to get to this size
I can't remember if mine previously had the little dot on the lip - the last couple of years the lip has been a purpley color (lighter than the blooms) - probably due to developing in cool temps.
aw - sorry yours is spotted so badly As for the floppier foliage, maybe an increase in light might help that...
I don't know how much these vary in size, hope you are able to find one you are happier with

Ha! I did start to think I should look what sizes those redwood half-barrel planters come in I generally get pots at the hardware store - the green nursery pots, and clay pots they only have up to 10", then they have the 1,2,3,5, etc gallon pots which are probably going to be too deep. Guess I should compare the 10" to the 2 and 3 gallons, see what the difference is ...

Mine does not have any pots. The smaller ones I see at stores do, and that is the main reason I don't buy them.
mine has naturally curving leaves like many plants in oncidium family do. It is growing on direct sun, so can't get any more light that it is getting now. lol
I love it, I just wish the overall size was smaller. It is truly monster. The spike is longer than 5 feet and the plant height is more than 3 feet. very very big plant.

Beautiful! That's a very healthy and well grown oncidium. Good job.
