Oncidium Maui Gold

Another new one I picked up at a farmer's market today.
It's a cross between two mule ear types. The seller told me the names but they were quite long to remember. lol

The plant is short and compact with thick leaves. Flowers are slightly larger than typical dancing lady, but the yellow lip is much more intense (pictures don't really pick up the color right) with brown sepals and petals. some spots are present around the golden edge of the flowers.
Buds are very waxy! I like shiny buds.

I was told that as the plant gets older, the flower spike will be huge, and it already has decent number of flowers on the spike.
I love yellows!

Thank you, yeah, I like the chocolate brown and bright yellow.
The bright yellow turned too bright now that it is almost bleached out.
The fragrance is getting stronger ever during the day time though!

Now the yellow lip is almost bleached to cream white, but the scent is stronger than ever!
With a few other strongly fragrant bloomer in the apartment ( oncidium heaven scent, two catts, a few dens, oncidium twinkles, red phal, and brassia), I get high with mix of orchid fragrance! lol

I was told that this plant will produce even more flowers on a taller spike as the plant gets older.
can't wait!!!

and oh, did I mention it smells so nice?
