To Silken: Well I guess I have a culture more similar to the species making up Rawdon Jester than you do. But I understand it needs bright light, airy but somewhat moist mix during the growing season, and a drier cooler winter when it is not growing. Mine I got late last summer, it was growing in 100% sphagnum which I always feel uncomfortable with. So I put it into a new pot, and filled it with a mix of sphagnum, coconut husk and some hydroton. It is on a shelf where it gets dappled sun until mid afternoon and I water it about once a week. It pushed off one new lead, the one that is blooming, after I repotted, and now it has three new leads growing on it so I am optimistic, it seems happy
To Eggshells: They orange brown oncidium is Onc. Hilo Bay 'Sunny Daze'. I picked it up at an auction last summer and it was sitting on the patio all this time, started sending out spikes in late Spring. I posted some pictures of it here a few weeks ago, check it out.
