Odontoglossum hybrids blooming
I have always loved the look of odontoglossums and hybrids, but never was able to find any apart from a yellow that I got on ebay. Finally last year I stumbled across a Odontoglossum Frechdachs in bloom purchased from Cal Orchids at their booth at an orchid show and sale at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA last November. After blooming I put it on the patio where I hoped my conditions close to the ocean here in So Cal would approximate the warm, but never too hot days, and cool, but not too cold nights from the Andean foothills where I understand these orchids originate. Well, I guess I succeeded because it is back in bloom again this week. I also managed to find a source for other odont hybrids at Golden Gate Orchids and purchased several others, one of which also began blooming this week,a reddish orange, Oda. Petit Port'Woolsey' x Wils. Geneva Red 'Rosie'
