Good luck with that. I have noticed that even though two hybrids might share the same name, their fragrance is often slightly different. There are so many different types of hybrids around that even though they might be called the same thing they still manage to be slightly unique?

I agree with you there. Each orchid is unique. I have many different varieties of Onc. Sharry Baby, for example, and each has a slightly different fragrance (if my memory serves me correctly) I'm hoping to get them all to bloom at the same time to be able compare.

Actually I think with Sharry Baby it could be different clones. I heard that with Nelly Isler though all the ones you get are the same clone ('Swiss Beauty') as that's the only one of the cross they ever got to grow properly and bloom. Pretty amazing that the one clone that worked out should be SO popular!

Yeah it is amazing. And then when you consider that one nurseries might smell different to another nurseries even though they are the same hybrid. Maybe culture has a part to play too.

That's precisely what I did with mine. Potted it in similar mix and it has hung outside from a tree branch last summer and this summer. It seems to like it. I think these are sort of like Milts in that they don't like to dry out and don't like extreme heat.

That is what I have found out to be true too Silken, keep the medium moist and don't over heat them. Mine seems to like it.

Here she is in all her glory! I wasnt expecting the blooms to be so large - no scent yet ... I'll have to check early tomorrow morning.

This is by far my favorite of all oncidium species an hybrids I own!

You are quite right. I bought mine in October, and have kept it outside until recently. It did great over the winter, and even grew a bit. But once the heat hit, it started going downhill. :( I brought it inside a couple of weeks ago where I think it will recover nicely.

It looks great. The flower looks just like mine but its on a much taller spike! I find the scent a bit sharp as in lemon soap, but they may vary.
