I have a few crinkly leaves. I think it is due to lack of water or lack of humidity.

Very nice spike! I just brought mine inside to the kitchen window. It was NOT enjoying the heat and rains, so maybe after it recovers from the heat in the comfort of the a/c it will thank me with a nice spike like yours! I should clarify that even with the a/c running our apartment stays between 50-65% relative humidity, but goes up in the winter since we don't have to run the a/c as much.

Very nice presentation of the blooms on that spike. Mine tend to misbehave a bit when in bloom.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately being in the south east facing window all of the time the flowers right in the sun have faded and bleached out a bit but the scent still remains the same. Oh well three new growths are still going strong. I hope this will soon be an even nicer plant next time round.

I think my Nelly has a spike! Can't quite believe it, as though I have a few oncid types it's the first time I've seen a spike at this early stage. *G*. Not sure I can take credit though as I've only had the plant a month: it was thought to be just out of flower when I got it and also has new growths! But I think this one's a spike...

I'll be surprised if it looks as good as yours though!

After your pictures, Susie, and everyone talking about this scent ... I had to experience it for myself. I'm expecting a plant any minute now (impatiently waiting for FedEx) with 3 spikes.

My only question is, Would I treat this more like my run of the mill intergeneric oncidium? (i.e. outside in summer with all my others?) or more like a miltoniopsis and keep it indoors year round with cooler temps? It seems to have characteristics and similar requirements of both.

I have over 250 orchids from Cattleya to Dracula - so I'm sure it'll fit in somewhere care wise ... just ... where?!

Wow don't you have a lot of orchids?!! I only have about 38 and I am already running out of space for them. I live in a tower block so I do not have a garden to put anything outside in. So, I keep all of them indoors with me. I gave the Burrg. N.I intermediate temps and I basically kept her cool over winter. I gave it no winter rest and I potted her in sphag. I have all of my intergenerics in sphag or bark and they all seem to be doing well in it. The scent is amazing. I can smell it first thing in the morning and I can't stop myself from going over to it and sticking my nose deep inside the blooms to get the full load! Hope this helps.

I can't wait to smell it. I'm hoping I'll open the box and just be overwhelmed with the sweet fragrance .... or have another gecko launch at my face ( ... yes I've really had that happen). haha. Thats a whole 'nother story.

I might pot it up in a mix of bark, charcoal, perlite, and sphag like all my other oncids and hang it in a tree outside for the summer ...
