(Wilsonara: Oncidium alliance complex intergeneric hybrid between the genera Cochlioda, Odontoglossum and Oncidium.)
I got this one in bloom Oct. '08. The first year and a half or so that I had it, it didn't thrive. The plant didn't look bad, but new pbulbs were a fair amount smaller than the one that had bloomed, and I didn't see roots in the clear pot. So, when I next repotted it, I placed a small, overturned net pot in the new pot, and subsequent pbulbs are big and fat, and I have been able to see root growth in the pot. This one has also been outdoors year-round for a couple of years, and this past winter I moved it from the front to back of the house, where it could get more sun and still be sheltered from weather. That seemed to do the trick to get it spiking.
Unfortunately, about 3 weeks ago, I noticed buds had been chewed on by something
I thought 4 of the 8 buds had been spared, but after bringing it inside (after a soapy water shower, and bath soak), I saw 2 more of the buds had been chewed
I also saw the snail slime trail on the stake and spike after bringing it in.
Anyway - two buds made it to bloom. They are bigger (4" across), and nicer looking than I remember! The lip is quite a vivid yellow.
There is a medium size new lead, so hopefully I won't have too long to wait for another spike
Thanks for looking
