Got this orchid, Wils Hilda Plumtree 'Purple Wings' HCC/AOC from the orchid exhibition in San Jose, CA last 02Jun2012 . When I got it, its buds are almost ready to open and luckily it survived the trip home without going bud blast as it was in the low 90's then. I like how easily it seems to have acclimated indoors and has been actively opening up the rest of the buds.
Good looking flowers! I picked up one of these a few weeks ago as I just started getting involved in growing orchids. Came in the same size pot and also about the same level of healthy leaves, but I have no flower spikes. I did my first transplant with it because the old media was very rotted and put it into medium bark mix. I worry that it might be getting too dry, as the bulbs started to wrinkle up subsequently (which isn't so surprising because I read not to water at first when you transplant!) and have been giving it water every couple days since then to help it recuperate. What have you found so far with caring for this plant? How much sunlight should I be giving it, for example?
