I too have grown one outdoors year round here in SF bay area, sheltered, and near the house, only putting it in the garage on the coldest nights (forecast to be 34 or lower, to avoid possibility of freezing) Probably NOT ideal, and I won't recommend it, but plant did fine, bloomed the next summer

Tho if the temp difference between indoors and outdoors is a lot, it might drop the blooms if you put it outside now.

I can relate to overpowering orchid fragrance, even a nice fragrance. My Onc Sharry Baby - outside even, would give me a headache if I was in a few feet of it for more than a couple of minutes.
