What to do when the bloom is over?
I just received my first milt 2 days ago, and it came fully bloomed.  I was a little disappointed as I had been told it had buds, and I wanted to have it bloom here for me, in order to feel more of the process. Anyway, does anyone know how long they stay bloomed, and, do I cut off the spike like a phal, or leave it alone? This one a 'Miltionia Andrea West', and the flowers are white with varying shades of yellow to peach to orange inside. |

Miltonias dont rebloom from bloomed spikes. Once you lose the flowers (which can last up to 2 months if well cared for, and used to your conditions), just cut back the spike near the bulb, and wait for another bulbs spike. Good luck.

What to do when an orchid is done blooming? Buy a new orchid to have something else blooming!

Continue the above recommendation until you need to purchase a greenhouse... Then continue until the greenhouse needs to be bigger...

DONT DO THAT!!! I went about it the same way as the blooming addict and now i have 30 plants 4 months into the hobby. Im a little afraid!  |

I remember reading a post on here that the way to go about it is to get ONE orchid, get it to bloom successfully, then after you're comfortable with that, get ONE more, and again, stay working with that. Well, I got ONE orchid, and before it was finished blooming (it was bloomed already when I got it) I got two more, and then another, then two more different kinds, and well, I now have 17. That was all in a 6 month period of time.  The saying "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results." Well, I'm doing the same thing over and over again, and expect the SAME results!   |
